Quantities and Numerals Together
Exercise 3
MATERIAL:
- Seguin Tens Boards
- 45 ten bars
- A floor mat
PURPOSE:
- To combine the quantities and numerals 10 to 90
AGE:
- 4 years and older
EXERCISE:
- The Seguin Tens Boards are placed vertically on the mat with the
box of ten bars beside them. The teacher shows the child how to
place the correct number of ten bars by each numeral, beginning with
10. The bars are placed side by side to form rectangles.
The child puts one ten bar to the left of the numeral 10. He
places two ten bars, side by side, to the left of the "20," and so
on. As soon as the child understands the exercise he is left to
work alone.
Control of Error
- There are exactly the right number of ten bars for the exercise.
